ADJAGAS, originally from Sápmi (also known as Lapland), and now based in Norway, have received the prestigious honour of opening this year’s Glastonbury Festival. They released their debut album to critical acclaim across Europe earlier this year.
ADJÁGAS feature Sara Marielle Gaup (23) and Lawra Somby (26) alongside a revolving line up of musicians. Their name is taken from the Sami word for the mental state between waking and sleeping.
The band also release a new single, “Lihkolas”, on May 14 on Ever Records. “Lihkolas”, arguably the band’s most joyful and celebratory song, is taken from their eponymous debut album and will be available as a digital download. It will be accompanied by a remix of former single “Mun Ja Mun” by SCHNEIDER TM in collaboration with UUUU, a Berlin based newcomer. T
“Unlike anything you've heard before - unless in a parallel world you happened upon an impromptu Planxty / Sigur Ros jam in the Arctic Circle - Adjágas is a magnificent musical experience." The Irish Times
“The current folk revival has brought many maverick sounds into the mainstream. Few, though, are more beguiling than Adjágas.” Q
“Spellbinding.” The Guardian
“Strikingly beautiful.” The Times
