ADJAGAS, originally from Sápmi (also known as Lapland), and now based in Norway, have received the prestigious honour of opening this year’s Glastonbury Festival. They released their debut album to critical acclaim across Europe earlier this year.
ADJÁGAS feature Sara Marielle Gaup (23) and Lawra Somby (26) alongside a revolving line up of musicians. Their name is taken from the Sami word for the mental state between waking and sleeping.

The band also release a new single, “Lihkolas”, on May 14 on Ever Records. “Lihkolas”, arguably the band’s most joyful and celebratory song, is taken from their eponymous debut album and will be availab

Foggy Folk Presents Alasdair Roberts+Mary Hampton

Whelan’s, Dublin
Sunday May 27th, 8pm
Tickets €15 available from WAV, Ticketmaster, City Discs & Road Records

Alasdair Roberts

Alasdair Roberts is a Scottish singer and guitarist. Raised in Callander, Central Scotland, he has been based in Glasgow for the past ten years. He has released music solo and as Appendix Out. He has released on such labels as Drag City, Secretly Canadian and Palace Records and has collaborated with Paul and Will Oldham, Sean O’Hagen of the High Llamas, Jason Molina, Alex Nielson, Rian Murphy, and Gerard Love of Teenage Fanclub.

Mary Hampton

Mary Hampton lives in Brighton in a room overlooking the sea. She finds old songs and keeps them in coloured vials in her fridge. Sometimes she makes up new songs. And sometimes she does neither one thing nor the other.

“Her EP, Book One, homemade, its lyric sheet folded like origami, presents six “songs of refusal”, barbed evasions and rejections. There’s “Silver Dagger”, in quiet and sullen contrast to Dolly Parton’s beserk Appalachian horror-folk reading of a few years back, and “Let No Man Steal Your Thyme”, less carefree than Pentangle’s joyous version. Hampton sings old new folk’s material with new new folk’s emphasis on minute sonic detail.”
